Chef'd
Overview: An App that helps the users search for local chefs which are ready to cook a meal for them at their homes.
Project Type : UX Project/Mobile Application
Client : Two Igloos
My Role: User Research, Prototype, Usability Testing, UX Designer
Timeline: February 2021 - April 2021
Problem
People want fresh restaurant-quality food in the comfort of their homes. The client intended to create a platform that can provide chefs with freelance work as well as meet the needs of busy residents living in the city.
Solution
My team and I came up with the idea of developing a user-friendly mobile application to ease the process of connecting local chefs with busy residents of the city.
UX Objectives
Support local chefs
Meet the requirements of the busy residents
Creating a community where chefs can gain exposure and experience
Our Design Process
DISCOVER
Our team conducted interviews with potential users of the app. We discovered:
People were concerned about letting chefs enter their home from a COVID health and safety perspective
Most working-class users order food a few times every two weeks
Affordability regarding food services is a concern
DEFINE
Our team developed a roadmap for success, to account for all upcoming stages of the design project.
Our team realized that Chef’d was not an application intended to be used by an individual on a daily basis but to be used only for special occasions like gatherings/housewarming parties. Two of the deciding factors for the users to use the app were money and opportunity.
PERSONA
Next, our team developed a persona to embody an image of the target audience.
IDEATION & ITERATION
We took a look at different issues that needed to be addressed, and how we could address them with the design. Our team sat down and figured out what the problem was and mapped it out on a mural board.
IMPLEMENTATION
Our team tested our prototype and any refinements we made from this testing. Changes like the COVID-19 Vaccine Verification Badge was added to the concept. As we learnt more, we updated our design to further fit the needs of our users.
PROTOTYPE
Our team designed a functional prototype on Figma. A snapshot of the prototype is below.
